Jesus - a swear word?

There was a news item on the tele this morning which really cracked me up and made me think as well.

This kid asked her preacher ..

"Father... why did Mary and Joseph name their kid after a swear word?"

Funny the innocence of kids and how they can really make you think about things. Im not a Jesus fanatic or consider myself a Christian in the religious sense of the word. I respect Jesus for his message and for the compassion that the Christ taught to the world with his actions.

But is it sad that todays kids should know Jesus not as a spiritual figure but as a swear word.

Kids are the mirrors of society and they often reflect back to us exactly what is wrong. As adults we are too blind to "see" what is going on.
Can you begin to imagine in what context and under what circumstances the name Jesus is used in the household or community the child who asked the question, lives in?
It is an eye-opener to the parent... but will they do anything about it?
