Big Smoke

I just spent the past 3 days in the big smoke of Sydney with my mate from Melbourne. We stayed in the centre of gay town on Oxford Street which was pretty kewl and central to everything.

Yesterday we checked out the harbour presinct and then caught a ferry over to Manly where we had a huge lunch at one of the Pubs overlooking Manly beach. Summer is in the air I can feel it coming.

We checked out a few shops and brought some kewl clothes and had a meal at Mickeys in Paddington where we sat next to a few people from the Big Brother television show, listening to them bitch about what happened in the show. That was kinda interesting.

Last night we went to the movies and watched a really great film called "Mysterious Skin" by Greg Araki. It was a great movie but disturbing about two guys who were molested as kids by their little league coach and how they grew up and how their lives turned out after it all. It was graphic and realistic and brought up a few memories for me. If you get a chance it is well worth seeing.

    I've read a fair bit about Mystreious Skin. It sounds loike a very wel done film. I always think controversy is a good thing..good to challenge our beliefs and take us out of our comfort zone. And from the sounds of things it is anything but a "how to molest a chils" as suggested by ther Family Assoc. Heaven forbid we actually deal with a topic realistically, without Disney-style moralising. What do you make of the criticvisms of the film PB?

    The movie really is good.. and Greg Araki really has done an excellent job. You wouldnt expect anything else from the lips of the family first party.. so the critcisms.. well they are unwarranted really.
